My Shared files are not working.

So basically when i first got my pi and downloaded retropie and stuff doing \\RETROPIE worked fine. then one day windows told me that \\RETROPIE could not be found. i reset my wifi on the pi and my router. and it came back. a day later its happened again and resetting my router and wifi did not work. so if anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated. This wouldn't be that annoying if i could just pop in my microSD into my computer and do it like that but it doesn't give me access to my roms or bios.etc so if anyone knows of a way to transfer files like that i would be willing to do that also.
