      Hi All,

I would like to know to how clean up a bit my Arcade (Mame/FBA/Neo Geo) roms collection...

First thing I would like to eliminate all the infinite variations of a same games... I have not idea if Retropie has already some options to hide the variations though.

Second thing I would like to remove a lot of roms, but it is impossible if on the folder the names are unrecognizable, I would like really removing most of the games under the 80's if not even 85's. But how? So far I saw you can't even delete games from Retropie UI...

My retromachine is an Odroid XU4 with Ora and my regular PC uses a linux distro.

I would also verified the integrity of my collection if anyone can reach me through private message I would really appreciate!

      Thanks in advance,

      Danielsan

One way to do it is to use ClrmamePro / RomCenter and output a Non-merged ROM set, so that each .zip file can be run as is, without needing additional ROMs. You then filter the full ROM set and add only the games you want.
You actually can delete ROMs from from Emulationstation (RetroPie's interface) by pressing select (on the game's list entry) and choosing Edit This Game's Metadata - you'll get a Delete button you can use to delete the ROM.

I think there are also other utilities that can filter through your ROMs, @markwkidd's Simple Arcade Multifilter is one of them.

          @mitu

          Thank you very much!

I have to figure out how to run those programs without installing WINE...
Does not exist any Linux alternative, isn't it?

@Danielsan I think ClrMamePro would easily be run under Wine. I only used RomCenter to audit/fix/merge a few ROMs and it's usually more beginner friendly, but RomCenter is a .Net application, so its installation might be more involved.

@Danielsan Well, I don't think you'll be too interested since you are running much better hardware, but I made a custom ROM Set consisting of everything that seemed to run well enough in FBA, MAME 2003 Plus, and MAME 2010 on my overclocked RPi3B.

              https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/20348/all-in-one-overclocked-rpi3b-arcade-rom-set-setup

You'll need cosmo0's Arcade Manager to sort the ROMs out with the new CSV lists I made if you decide to check the collection out.

It might save you some time if you are using FBA at the very least. The MAME versions I used might be useable for an ODROID-XU4 (I would guess Mame 2010 is the standard for that), but a PC would certainly be wasting its time running such outdated MAME emulation.

I've created a RomSetManager to cleanup all the roms in a collection.
Nobody noticed that tool because I've created it for my own collections but you can give it a try.

                Its free and on github.

That seems like a very useful program...I read through it briefly and didnt see this, but does it remove the (E) [!] automatically on output or is there an option to do so?

I spent a great deal of time going through mine using OSX finder to rename everything. Its bulk rename function actually works quite well, but i have to borrow a MacBook from the office to do so lol

yes it will remove these letters.
You can see it on that screenshot (column: Wiped File Name).
