ScummVM 2.0.1pre cannot exit from BT Controller
-
After rebuilding my NESPi system (Pi 3 in a NESPi case, running RetroPi 4.4 image freshly downloaded and installed and updated last week), I am getting my emulators setup and configured. One of them is ScummVM. I would like to pickup where I left off in Riven. Of course, since my earlier, OLDER build, ScummVM has undergone some updates. No worries, I was able to get it installed, transfer my titles back over from a backup and the game launches fine.
After navigating through the game a bit (Riven in my case) using my 8BitDO NES30 Pro controller, I realized I could not escape out to the ScummVM UI. The game works fine, I can pause, but none of the controller buttons are mapped to pop me back out to the emulator menus. As such, I cannot quit, and I cannot select my saved states. Fortunately, I have my NESPi reset button setup with a python script to kill the PID for any emulators so I can get back to ES.
I suspect this is related to some of the controller "improvements" we are getting in the 2.x version updates, but after a couple hours of searching for controller configuration answers, I found mostly recompile instructions from source and an handful of early tests with version 2. I guess I missed the discussion about how to proceed here, but someone knows the answers I'd be happy to make an update to the ScummVM docs for the next guy. Thoughts? I'd rather not connect a keyboard if I can setup a shoulder button or Select/Start to get me to the GUI.
