I'm in the middle of setting up my pi3b+ and i'm on version 4.4.8 - when i'm on the home menu I can't program my controllers to move left or right on the right analog stick (this effects games too). I've tested it on three controllers; an 8bitdo sf30 pro, an sn30 pro, and an sn30 pro gb. None will accept the inputs. Occasionally it will let me do axis 2+ when I'm doing configuration, but it won't let me do axis 2-. I'm using the Dinput (start + B) to sync to bluetooth. If i'm in one of the blue screens in RPsetup, i'm able to use left and right on the analog stick to move around the menus, so I know it's not the controllers messing up. It's got to be the operating system. Has anybody else experienced this issue or know how to fix it?

I went to retropie setup > configuration/tools > emulation station > clear/reset emulation station input configuration. It didn't seem to help. This actually made things worse, as now it makes me input controls every time i restart the console. And these are newer controllers running the most current 8bitdo update, so i don't think I need the 8bitdo mapping hack.

This is driving me crazy! I can't figure out what's actually broken. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

don't know if it'd help but y+start tends to be the most reliable. but i've had problems with my sf30pro using a retro receiver on the newest emulationstation. up and left on the right analog stick don't work.

I have the same thing here. The 8bitdo NES30Pro won't register the right analog stick left. Everything else on the controller registers fine in controller config except that. It works fine outside of emulationstation, and my second controller does the same exact thing with right analog left press. It worked fine before running the retropie update script. I was running the stock retropie 4.4 on rpi3B+ before that.

Also doesn't matter if it's using bluetooth or USB.

Pics of your controllers might be helpful to know which ones you are using as there is an old version and new versions of these controllers and i think the newer ones added switch mode and stuff.

I'm using the older NES30 Pro, not the newer N30. The one without the "8Bitdo N30 Pro" branding on the front.

Did you buy from the link above ? It looks like a knock-off of the N30 Pro 2 (the new one) controller, but not quite the real thing.

@tiermann ok so if it is real, then you boot it with the power only. Also when pairing you might have to turn the 8bitdo hack on or off in the bluetooth setup. If it is fake as a lot of their stuff is then not sure what to tell you.

It might be worthwhile to uninstall and reinstall the Xpad driver. After my last update, I had to do that inorder to get my 8Bitdo controllers to fully function again.
