I have scraped my Roms and although stuff like mega drive works fine, I do not get a video preview for any of my arcade sets - fab, mame2003 or neogeo! The sound plays for each one, but there is no video at all - I have tried enabling OXMPlayer but that didn't make any difference.

Any ideas where to start - I have an up to date Retropie image and everything else works fine, just those 3 sets.

Failing that, any idea what I could convert my downloaded mp4 files to to increase their chance of working?

Edit - I have found a thread that didn't show up earlier so now have a better understanding of the issue, it looks like conversion is my best bet - I am on a Mac and use Smart Converter Pro 2 - anyone know what is the right profile to use?

      Raspberry Pi 400 - overclocked to 2.3GHz
      Theme - Comic book
      Emulators: All of them...
Roms: Pretty much all of them...
Favourite games: Circus Charlie, Gorf, Gauntlet Legends
      Controllers: Mayflash F101

@chubsta Baseline, Main, and High profile all seem to work. Make sure the audio is aac, 96kbps is fine and no need to go above 128. Each program tends to apply x264 settings differently in my experience, so if High profile doesn't work bump it down to Main profile, but Baseline should always be safe.

I can't offer any advice for Mac but if you have access to windows machine we can give you good alternatives and batch scripts to make it easy if you have thousands of videos.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I do not have any access to Windows, so will grab handbrake and mess with it, looks like baseline is a good starting point

@chubsta Anytime. Something else that may be useful to you is adjusting the crf value, sometimes called constant quality. A setting of 22 is usually default but that will make large videos that look good full screen, if its just going to be in the corner of your theme you may want to go with a higher value. I use crf 28 (the higher the value the lower the quality) This brought ~100gb worth of videos down to just over 32gb
