What's new on RetroAchievements feature since RetroPie 4.4
-
Hey @BuZz
I'm not sure what are the criteria you use to bump the RetroPie version and release a new image, but I would like to list here some stuff that happened on the RetroArch/Achievements front since RetroPie 4.4. I hope it can be added to your list of "reasons to release a new image".It's true all the new features/improvements are accessible by updating the individual packages, but to get them the users need to update RetroArch and some individual cores.
RetroArch 1.7.2:
- Added support to Atari 2600, Virtual Boy, and Arcade (Neo Geo, CPS-1, CPS-2 and CPS-3).
<--
requires updating stella, beetle-vb and fbalpha cores. - Added option to automatically take a screenshot when an achievement is triggered.
- Fixed incompatibilities with Neo Geo Pocket achievement sets.
RetroArch 1.7.4:
- Fixed crash when scrolling Achievement List while Unofficial Achievements enabled.
- Added hitcounts support for PauseIf/ResetIf.
<--
this is a common reason of false reports of bugs in our achievements. This feature added in the latest RetroPie image would be very much appreciated by the achievement creators community, as they need to handle the bug reports for their work.
RetroArch 1.7.6:
- Updated hashing methods to identify NES, SNES and Lynx games (more accurate and accepting headerless ROMs).
- Added support to Atari 7800 and ColecoVision.
<--
requires updating prosystem core and installing/updating the blueMSX core present in the optional packages (also, I wonder if it would be possible to move the lr-bluemsx from optional to main)
That's it.
Thanks a bunch for all your hard work!

@meleu thanks. New image is due out soon. I need to write the changelog so the information above is useful.

one thing, on Linux Xubuntu in Retropie they still have that old yellow font displaying the retroachievements. no fancy border around it or even a small window displaying your achievement.
I know everyone has a lot to do, and i am grateful for all work being done on retropie, but it looks really beta.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
