I'm trying to play the high resolution emulators but it seems they won't play .zip files, only .n64 files. The only file inside the zip is the .n64 file. I'm really hoping I don't have to unzip the entire library, on the doc page .zip files are accepted extensions so I didn't even think twice when I loaded everything on the Pi. Can I change something inside the code so the emulators can read the .zip files?

This is only for lr-mupen64plus, as it is the only one that is RetroArch configured through libretro. So yes, you will need to unzip your n64 roms if you want to use the other emulators. One of the many draw backs to n64 emulation.
