Super Game Boy Emulation incl. bootsplash on an Raspberry Pi.
-
Hi there!
has anyone a solution to run Super Game Boy enhanced games like "Donkey Kong Land" on a Raspberry Pi incl. Super Game Boy's bootsplash sequence? I mean this:
What i see when using lr-mgba emulator is a black Nintendo Logo on a white screen for just one secound. After that the game starts and looks like a real Super Game Boy game, with all it's colors and the border. But this is not all i want.
I think it works not, cause i just added the BIOS file, but i do not have any clue how to configure the "Super Game Boy (World) (Rev 2).sfc" file, what includes this bootsplash. Can lr-mgba handle this at all?
I know, how to run this (like i want it) with lr-bsnes. - But this emulator is not running on a Raspberry Pi. :-(
Any ideas / alternatives?

lr-mgba has a settings for gameboy model to sgb.
I think the bios is named sgb_bios.binI can't get it to work, I think that I am unable to save the core options, there have been other emulators that were like that. Maybe it will work for you?
Oh I edited the config manually, and I think I see what you meant. There is a nintendo grey then a black box and the game boots with the border. I don't know.

@DieKatz Check out this topic for some ideas.

Thanks @mitu, I have already seen this thread. Unfortunately, the discussion there is going in another direction.
My only problem is currently the bootsplash. The SGB games are running without any problems. -
@Efriim, yes. As far as I understood this, the bootsplash is not a part of the bios file. It's part of a Super Game Boy ROM like "Super Game Boy (World) (Rev 2).sfc".
But for that i need a SNES emulator that supports sub-systems. -- ...and lr-bsnes seems to be the only one that can handle this.
But lr-bsnes is not running on a raspberry pi. :-(On the other hand lr-mgba is the only Game Boy Emulator that can rund SGB enhanced games.
But it seems that this emulator has no port for the Super Game Boy ROM..?That's why i asket for ideas or alternatives.

@DieKatz This might be a tad out there as an idea, but maybe you could write a script to call omxplayer before the Rom loads? https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/7009/auto-play-video-before-loading-rom/6
That way you could run the video file, then the game starts to play? Messy but something to explore as a solution.
