I've seen multiple videos and read how to go in to the Retropie Setup find the lr-pcsx-rearmed emulator under the packages ,and I thought install it. After I reboot and look for the psx rom folder to place my games into, it's not there. So the emulator is not installed, eventhough it says it is. I'm wondering if there is some other step that is being glossed over to make it work, other than magic?

I have a pi3 with the Bluetooth an wireless built in. I'm not sure what all software version it's on, someone gave it to me with stuff already on it. But I did see a message about so 'n'so's name no longer supported and ubunto no longer supported, updating to retropie 4 would require a complete fresh install.

Is that what's possibly the issue? Do I really need to reflash the system.

It's your choice, but as it looks it's a poorly configured system and you might as well start from scratch with the latest RetroPie image.

I don't think you have to start over, but I haven't tried ubuntu on the pi even though I'd prefer it.

you can check to make sure the emulators are installed.
I think the paths would be the same.

          /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-pcsx-rearmed/ < pcsx_rearmed_libretro.so
          ~/RetroPie/roms/psx/ < *.pbp *.iso *.m3u *.cue *.mdf *.toc *.z
          /home/$USER/Retropie/roms/psx/

And check if emulationstation has a playstation entry.
          nano /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
          and/or
          nano /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
ctrl+w playstation ^W: where is "playstation"

@Efriim hi. Thanks for taking the time to try an help. I didn't realize I'd have to come back here every day to see a response to my post. I thought there would be some kind of alert.

My friend was back in town, an did a few clicks, a line of command and the Playstation Emulator is working. But that's all we got. The new problem, none of my controllers work with the games. Once a game is started only the Left Analog Stick will work, and I cant exit the game back to the browser. I hate unplugging the Pi to start over. But it's the only option I'm left when controller function is quadriplegic. Any help with this new problem would be appreciated!

@mitu hello. We got the emulator to run. But once a game is started, only my Left Analog Stick for my PS3 controller will work. All other buttons become unresponsive. I need a clue as to what I might do to fix this issue now. My friend that helped me is also at a loss with this new problem.

Use the Start menu in emulationstation to "Configure input" it should ask for all the inputs once again, this will setup the emulators to use them automatically.

If that doesn't work just shout.
Are you using the "lr-pcsx" or "pcsxr"?

                  @Efriim Hello,

I did do this. An it made no difference. The controller works in almost every other console's emulator. You know, aside from Intellivision? Or the cockpit style Arcades. Still have not found one to work on those yet. I'll save that for another day.

The playstation emulator I'm using is the LR-PCSX rearmed. I'm not sure why this is so resistant to work. All the other emulators were never a problem. Thanks for trying to help. I really appreciate it.

                    Hi again.
I'm wondering what version of retropie you have installed. Have you updated the emulators or retroarch or anything? I have not ever used retropie prior to 4.4
What happens when you try to update?

I'd start with a fresh image if you have your roms backed up. This way everything is legit.

Here is a guide I tried to write for migrating, all of the items you want to back up are optional.

It is probably very much easier to use samba instead, to transfer only the games and bios
