I have a Retrolink USB controller that works just fine, but I cannot hold the 'z' button. For some reason, the button will trigger like normal for <1 second, then go back to as if no buttons were being pressed.

I do have the 'z' button set to the "hotkey enable" button in the retropie controller setup as well as the "select" key. Additionally, I have a custom retroarch configuration for all n64 games, but it should only change the a and b buttons.

It is maybe the hotkey then?? or maybe the built in turbo-function?

Are the retrolink controllers actualsize, of their models?

@Efriim the n64 controllers shell should still be swappable with real n64 controller shells. They are identical. They even have the slot for the memory card and rumble pack even though the circuit board is blank right there.

@cybermage9 im guessing there is an issue with the controller. Hook it up to a windows machine and see how it reacts in the joystick test. I set my buddy up with one and there wasnt an issue, but if you have it assigned to both Left trigger (z) and select that would be an issue

@edmaul69 I'm not sure how I would go about testing an n64 controller on windows. I looked up help online but was only able to find jstest tutorials in Linux. If you could shed a little light on the process or link me to some help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I do in fact have the z trigger bound to BOTH "select" and "hotkey enable", if that's what you were asking (there were no buttons left to bind).

@cybermage9 go into control panel. Go into devices and printers. Right click on the controller. I think the first option has what you need to test all the buttons. Its an on screen display. Not text like linux.

@edmaul69 I tried it, all of the buttons appear to be working properly.
