      Hi I'm new to this and I'm looking for specific information on the topic . My final goal is to install a raspberry pi zero into an atgames Genesis.

        You can use the GPIO controller drivers - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/GPIO-Modules/ - the db9_gpio_rpi seems to support 2 MD controllers.

          you could also use the PetrockBlock ControlBlock thingy ... does a lot for you, have one in my nes box specifically for Mega Drive controllers ... with dsubs attached ... :-)

            Neither method makes mention of the pi zero. The first method may have been written before pi zero.

              @zacmario The first method applies to any Pi released so far. The Pi zero has the same GPIO headers as the Pi2/3.
