I have the latest version of retro pie installed and just tried to get my xarcade tank stick to work.

I went through the process of installing and enabling the drivers.

I am able to get retro pie to see the stick and configure it.

The problem I run into is that when I load a game, as it loads it get the memo “Xarcade-to-Gamepad Device 1 (0/0) not configured” and the same for device 2. When I back out of the game using the keyboard, the xarcade tankstick is no longer recognize and has to be reconfigured.

It only works going through retro pie menus but then disables itself once a game is turned on.

      Please help!

Hm, that sounds similar to a recent post - is your disk full ?
Normally, after the Input configuration is run, the gamepad settings are saved in both the Emulationstation configuration file and the RetroArch gamepad auto-config folder. In your case, it's clear the configuration are not saved.

Can you add more info about your system, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first ?
Check the permissions on the Emulationstation's configuration folder - $HOME/.emulationstation - it might be a permissions problem. If you change any of the settings of Emulationstation, like the Scraper source, does it get saved between restarts ?
