The Legend of Sword and Fairy (Chinese Paladin) - SDLPAL

A classic Chinese RPG and story based on Chinese mythology. Originally released for DOS and then Windows 95/98 then ported to Sega Saturn and later a CGI remake again for Windows titled "New Legend of Sword and Fairy".
I was wondering if there was someone who would help me to get this SDL port to work.
I think the Windows versions and remake are all compatible with SDLPAL.

Clockwork Pi forum, sdlpal
has some build info for without GUI, GLSL, controller map.

What exactly doesn't work ? Compilation succeeds, following the information on their repository, but I don't have the game data to try it out.

You're right it works.
I would have posted the freeware link to the game but I cannot read the website it is in chinese I wouldn't know if it is really free.

Is there any license or announcement for it ? On the sdlpal project page, I see that

This program does NOT include any code or data files of the original game, which are proprietary and copyrighted by SoftStar Inc.

so I'm assuming the original game data is still not open to distribution.

I also think that it's not allowed to distribute game data with 3-party projects.
