Game Boy color plays as regular Game Boy. Help!
-
Hello folks. On my RetroPie build on my Pi 3B+ I'm having issues with GBC. All of my GBC games load as if they were regular game boy causing most to not run and the rest to be in black and white. When I change the Game Boy style in the Retro Arch menu it exits the game and changes nothing. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Please add more info about your system and emulator used, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

My apologies. I will provide more info...
Power Supply: CanaKit 2.5A USB Power Supply with Micro USB Cable and Noise Filter - Specially designed for the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ (UL Listed)
Using Retro Pie 4.4.11
Emulator is mGBA. Hope that helps!

Just to make sure, you are sure you put the roms in the apropiate folder, and that the roms file type is the correct one?
-
And did you put the bios needed for mgba?
-
They are in the GBC folder and are .7z files. The bios are there. The emu works great with GBA and orignal GB. Only GBC is having issues. Thanks for the response.

@ferkberger747 No problem, maybe you could try with Ir-gambatte ?
-
It may be worth mentioning that this is set up identically to my last build which didn't have this issue.
-
@ferkberger747 In this case maybe you saved a core override for the core and the settings are overwritten. If you change the ROM type from the RGUI options menu, then you use the 'Reset Content' (
Select + B
), does the ROM works as GBC ? -
That's a good idea. If I can figure out how to change this I will give it a try. Still fairly new to this.
-
@ferkberger747 You said in your first post you're changing the GB style from the RetroArch's menu - I assume you already did this.
-
Yes. When I back out it exits the rom and doesn't save. Even after I try to use Save on Exit and override configuration. I did just get 1 rom to work but creating a game options file but it only works for that one rom and not the system as a whole.
-
@ferkberger747 Looks like a permissions problem. Don't use 'Save On Exit', it will make a bigger mess out of the settings. The core options are automatically saved if you set them through the RGUI - so there's no need for explicit save.
Can you check what are the permissions on the
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg
file ? -
I got it working with gambatte. This will work for me. Thank you for your help folks! I appreciate it!
