Download Festival
-
Completely off topic, but I'm going to my first ever festival next week. Download Festival (https://downloadfestival.co.uk/).
Anyone here going, or has been before?
Hopefully I wont get injured in a mosh pit!

@BuZz That looks a decent lineup. Pleasantly surprised that Def Leppard are headlining one night too. O saw them in Nottingham last year when they toured the Hysteria album in full. Great night out that!
Would love to see Tool and Slipknot live as well. Let me know how it goes.
-
@markyh444 yeah - looking forward to seeing Def Leppard. Also Sunday - Smashing Pumpkins then Tool on the main stage - both amazing. If I'm still alive by then heh. Keen to see Whitesnake also.
So many good bands.
-
@BuZz I've seen Whitesnake too when they co-headlined with Def Leppard a couple of years back at the MEN in Manchester. That was also a great night!
-
@markyh444 Awesome! I'm a live music noob excluding a few gigs here and there so I can't wait. Whitesnake have still got great hair too haha. Just watching a recent live performance.
-
Totally solid lineup there. I used to go to concerts all the time, not so much anymore. I do try to do a festival a year but that's usually a beer festival these days.

That's a solid (retro) line-up in, did not even know that DEF LEPPARD is still acting! So it's a kind of Nintendo Entertainment System :)
But furthermore:
Slayer, Slipknot, Stone Temple Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins
There are lot's of band I personally would just listen on the Avalaunche Stage ;)Enjoy the time! Listen to music and relax ;)
Btw: As I read DOWNLOAD Festival I thought someone posted a link to a ROM site ;) -
going too see Def Leppard too...on tuesday, warming up for Bon Jovi in Sønderborg,Denmark
-
@DorkVonWaterfall @cyperghost I genuinely didn't realise how many other Leppard fans there are here!
My brother will be most impressed.
Only other gig I've got lined up this year is watching Machine Head in Manchester. Definitely my favourite band, and they're playing a huge set - entire of Burn My Eyes, then a normal mixed set. Proper excited.
-
@BuZz hellova lineup! Make sure you check out Me First and the Gimme Gimmes if you can. They’re quite a bad ass cover song troop.
-
So far in this thread only the big bands have been mentioned, but there are some pretty great other bands listed:
- Clutch
- Royal Republic
- Skindred
- Rob Zombie
- Halestorm
- Icon for Hire
- Sumo Cyco
- Enter: Shikari
- The Amity Affliction
- Twelve Foot Ninja
Of those I've mentioned, I most recommend Twelve Foot Ninja and Royal Republic. Even if you don't see them at the show, you should check them all out on Spotify (or YouTube or whatever).
-
Thanks for the recommendations!
I should have got a boat instead of a tent!
-
+1 for Clutch. They’re from my neck of the woods and really great live. Their self-titled record from way back when is the quintessential chill out album.
-
So, saw Def Leppard warming up for Bon Jovi yesterday, they played the whole Hysteria album plus a couple of even older songs, they where great!!!!
Bon Jovi where absolutly awfull..Jon couldn't sing a single straight note.....we left the show after 20 minutes

@BuZz That Sunday lineup sounds freaking awesome! Im incredibly jealous lol
For anyone on the west coast in the states there's an Aftershock festival October 11-13th in Sacramento, CA. I'm still trying to get my wife to go...Its only a couple hour drive away dangit!!!
-
@Parabolaralus that Aftershock played at Gibson Ranch like, 7-8 miles from my house a few years ago. I went outside on my patio and could hear it. It was pretty bitchin.
