Pi Model or other hardware: Zereo
      Power Supply used: PC
      RetroPie Version Used 4.4
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: no
      Controller used: db9_gpio_rpi
Error messages received: controller not detected on reboot

works fine with sudo modprobe --first-time db9_gpio_rpi map=1
think info is outdated how to deal with reboots if anyone can help appreciated

      have tried /etc/modules db9_gpio_rpi map=1
      &
      sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/db9.conf db9_gpio_rpi map=1

      Thanks Keith

Normally you should add db9_gpio_rpi (no map parameter) to /etc/modules, so the module is automatically loaded. The parameters should go in /etc/modprobe.d/db9.conf as

        options db9_gpio_rpi map=1
