Screen recently started displaying a blue hue
-
Hi there,
I recently booted up Retropie and everything on the screen is displaying with a blue/purple hue.
I've not changed or updated anything.
I'm using:
Retropie 4.4.9
Rasperry pi 3 b +
Hdmi to vga adapter for lcd monitorNote the hdmi to vga setup worked perfectly until today.
Any suggestions?

I've tested the monitor with another device and it works fine. That rules out the monitor and vga cable.
I'm guessing it's either hdmi/vga adapter, the pi or a software config matter.
-
@rogerdodger I've now tested hdmi to vga converter on a separate machine and it works fine.
It appears to be a problem with either the pi or retropie. Any suggestions why everything would suddenly turn purple when nothing has been changed on retropie?
-
@rogerdodger Not sure what your problem is or how to fix it but have you checked just hooking the HDMI connection from the pi to a tv?
-
@simpleethat Good idea, i'll try that.
-
Also if you have another pi you can try the SD Card in that.
-
@simpleethat I've now tried the pi connected via hdmi to a tv using a vanilla retropie build and everything works ok.
I think I will make a vanilla retropie build with just the /boot/config.txt settings changed for the hdmi to vga connector.

@simpleethat I tried it with another Pi and everything now works fine.
Thanks for your help.

I wish I could have done more, I just find ways to troubleshoot. Hardware is finicky. Something I learned working in video production where things would just stop working and you would have to diagnose from A to B. Take out one part in the chain to see if the problem still exists. If it does put that back and try something else.
Glad you got it working though! Everybody's problems here can always become somebody else's solutions.

@simpleethat No worries mate thanks for your help.
It's good that this is documented so if it happens to somebody else they know how to fix it.
