Reicast zero inputs working inside of emulator
-
Hey all I've been trying to set up reicast on my retropie for a few days. I finally got the bios set up, and games are running. I'm using an arcade set up with joystick and buttons.
But when I get into a game, zero inputs work. Pressing every button results in nothing on screen. I went to retropie setup, and configured reicast controls from there, I put in start, hotkey to exit, all the buttons all the joystick.
But once I start reicast, I can't perform any actions whatsoever. Can't even exit emulator. Can't do anything on my USB keyboard either. Pressing every key does nothing. I have to flip the power off and on to get back into retropie.
I've been googling for a couple days now, read through the dreamcast wiki multiple times, and have tried many things. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance guys
EDIT: I am on Retropie 4.4, using an arcade joystick, buttons and usb encoder from amazon

Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. What controller are you using/what RetroPie version, etc.

@mitu Sorry about that. I updated my post!

Can you check if your gamepad configuration is added to the mapping folder in
/opt/retropie/configs/dreamcast/mappings
? It should be a.cfg
file with your gamepad name. -
@mitu there's a "generic controller" mapping cfg...That's the only one that seems like it would be related to my custom arcade joystick

@Dyelon said in Reicast zero inputs working inside of emulator:
"generic controller" mapping cfg
That's probably your gamepad which was configured. Can you post the contents of the file here, between code tags (just add
```
before and after the text on separate lines) ? -
@Dyelon if you have issues with controls on standalone reicast, but have a working retroarch setup, i would recommend giving a try to the flycast libretro core, especially in an arcade setup where you might be interested by naomi & atomiswave support.
NB : lr-flycast is a bit more demanding than reicast standalone, but nothing that can't be overcomed by upgrading or overclocking your device (which is a rpi ?).
@Dyelon hey pal, did you ever get it fixed? Having exact same issue as yourself. Bought USB encoders from amazon same thing.
