I have read the controller doc page. I see some helpful info on how to get Xbox 360 controllers working with the Xbox 360 specific USB wireless adapter from Microsoft.

      https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Xbox-360-Controller/

I favor the newer Xbox One controllers myself. They are a little more comfortable and feel more accurate. Plus all the 360 controllers are super worn out, and I don't plan on buying more.

Is the same compatibility supported in Retropie for the new Xbox One specific USB wireless adapter? Link here... https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/adapters/wireless-adapter-windows

If your Xbox One controller supports Bluetooth, you don't need a wireless adapter. I think newer models (after 1708 ?) have Bluetooth by default, but you can check your controller model for BT support.
