I’m attempting to locate and copy the ROMs folder to back my ROMs folder up.

      While on Debian
I’m trying to pull ROMs from a perfectly working disk that has ROMs in the ROMs folder. I’m putting the disk in a card reader and using the file explorer in Debian on my Pie 4b. I do not see the folder in the file explorer or by listing it in the terminal. I did try to show hidden files.

      While booted from RetroPie disk
I have confirmed the folders and ROM files exist both by them being playable on the disk and by finding them in the terminal when I boot from the ReteoPie disk. I tried using the cp command to copy the files to a new folder that I could give permissions to and the copy command appeared to execute but did not finish after hours.

How can I copy these files to save them?

The folder(s) containing ROMs are under /home/pi/RetroPie/roms. From a running system, you can transfer the ROMs through File shares or SFTP (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Transferring-Roms/#samba-shares).
