DBUS/Libreto error on UBUNTU 18.04 LTS

Hello there,

For some strange reason, my retropie has decided to not run on my UBUNTU 18.04 LTS. Originally I had 16.04 when the error started to appear and upgraded all drivers, software (on ubuntu and retropie), but this has been to no avail. When I tell emulationstation to autoboot (and every time subsequently) I am met with this error:

This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.

Now normally I would be stumped, but I did find that some people on Steam had the same issue and found a similar error. Their solution was to input into command prompt:

export DBUS_FATAL_WARNINGS=0
unset XMODIFIERS

This works, however I have to input it manually every time my computer boots. Is there a way to resolve this permanently? Is there anything I can do within the Retropie Setup/Retroarch config to resolve this permanently, or why it's happening in the first place? I'm not so good at manually editing code myself, but I don't even know where to address the problem from! I checked the retropie-setup logs but I cannot seem to find them as this issue happens before retropie even boots

My computer specs:

7.8 GB of memory
AMD RYZEN 3 1200 Quad-core
GeForce GT 1030/PCIe/SSE2
OS is 32-bit
