I'd like to edit the Carbon theme so I can get rid of all the ugly "unknown" crap on the screen (see pic).

Assuming this is possible without breaking anything - it looks like a simple case of deleting a bunch of lines from CARBON.XML - how do I get the Pi to actually let me do it? If I try to edit the file via WinSCP I get a permissions error (even if I run Kodi so that EmulationStation isn't "on"), and I can't see any way of doing it from the ES menu.

(The error message is a lie - it won't let me delete the file, or upload a new one to the folder, or create a new one. Nor will it let me change the permissions to 0777.)

Oops, never mind - I was trying to edit the wrong version of the file. The one in /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/themes/carbon was the one I wanted.
