      I have plugged everything in correctly - sanwa style joystick and 6 buttons - but only 'up' and the buttons work, left, right and down do not.

      Checking the board only the red light is lit, I can make the green light come on and switch the red off by plugging a button into the 'mode' socket and pressing it but this has no effect on the non-working directions.

      After banging my head against the wall for a couple of hours does anyone have any clues on this? I did find an old thread with a similar problem but in that persons case there issue was caused by having a button installed incorrectly in the 'mode' slot and that doesn't apply in my case

        @chubsta

        perhaps the controller is in "analog" mode, try switching it to pov mode and try to configure it again?

          @Halvhjearne thanks for the reply, I guess that is what is happening with the mode button, but that still doesn’t register three of the directions

            Did you switch the cables? Maybe some of them are faulty. Or in the worst case, the board is.

            edit: It also could be the switches of the Joystick or their connectors. Try changing around the pieces to see if you can pinpoint faulty ones.
