Retropie and Libreelec
-
So I have a LibreElec media center (raspberry pi 2) downstairs connected to my main TV. I have a RetroPie (raspberry pi 3 b+) connected to my TV upstairs. Both are wired networking. Most of my computers run Windows and I can access my movies and music by going \libreelec and play the particular file and from my main TV I launch LibreElec by changing the HDMI input from my remote.
What I am looking to do is launch libreelec from my RetroPie to watch a movie. If I could just launch a player or \ to that share that would be great. I don't want to add Kodi onto my RetroPie, that would defeat the purpose.
Is this possible and how would I set this up?

exactly how is the purpose defeated by installing kodi?
it would be the easiest way to achive what you actually want ...the reason you can play these files in windows is cause you already have a video player installed.
basicly what you are saying is:
"i want to dig a hole, but i dont want to use a shovel or my hands ... is there another way to do this?" -
Wouldn't KODI want media added to it's library? if so why would I want this added on to my Retropie? All I want is a way to play my media files from my libreelec via Retropie. One central location for my videos and music files. Does that make sense?

yes?
you add files to the library over network without moving the actual files or you can just play them directly from the source.
personally i use mysql (alltho a bit slow) to avoid having to recreate the library and remember which movies i watched on all devices using kodi in my home.
if you want something easier, you can look up plex media center, but i belive a "dedicated" server is required for that, i am unsure if it will run both a player and a server on one raspberry.
