      Hi all!

As always I'm fascinated with all the mini computers out there and it seems a few of them sport onboard eMMC storage.

Would you like to see the Raspberry Pi get onboard storage? I know I would. eMMC should be faster than SD and likely far less prone to corruption.
This would also allow us to use the SD slot for ROM storage instead of an external USB solution.

I have 0 experience outside the Pi with "cheap" computers but with the C.H.I.P. having 4GB being US$ 9 an 8GB onboard storage would be wonderful, I think.

Any opinions? Am I wearing rose tinted shades and missing an obvious drawback (besides production cost, obviously)?

      Thanx!

I think it's definitely production costs but also the option to run different systems on different cards, card swapping etc. Could be also hardware failure too, if the internal memory would fail for some reason you would need to buy a new unit but with these sd cards, if it gets broken you just buy a new card for a couple bucks.
