I have my pi in a gaming handheld so I can not use a keyboard, so I tried to connect using the wifikeyfile.txt method. When I import wifi credentials It says "unable to connect to network". I have a Linux machine so I was able to add games without WiFi but I really want to scrape box art. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Is your Wifi network 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz ? The Pi zero can only connect to 2.4Ghz APs. Make sure you don't have any restrictions on your AP to prevent connections from new clients.

A Raspberry Pi Zero doesn't have a WiFi NIC, so not being able to connect to WiFi is the expected result.
Only Pi Zero W and Pi Zero WH have WiFi NICs.
