A way to make Retropi setups festival friendly (removing system controls)
-
Hey there! First time poster.
I run a mobile arcade Art-Car called the Rynobus. I currently have around 20 retropi setups all on 3b or 3b+'s. We take this crazy thing to music festivals and events and community parties etc. I try to have a mix of older consoles and retropi setups but the retro pi machines are just so flexible I've been getting more and more.
While I love having these opposed to full sized consoles, I'm running into consistent issues with people digging into emulator settings or config settings in a large crowd environment. It's kind of stressful running around to all the machines and resetting them.
Does anyone know of a good way to hide or make a "kid friendly" or "don't mess with this crap" mode for my builds?
Or perhaps is there a place where I can put a bounty out on having something custom coded to make a child lock style settings config.
Here is what the arcade looks like: www.rynobus.com
Thanks for your time! -
@Rynobus just so i’m clear, you’re asking us how to better monetise our work? 👀
-
@dankcushions Not exactly sure where I'm implying that?
I loose considerable amounts of money on this project... like I don't make a penny. Common misconception though, so I get it.
I'm just trying to figure out if there is child-lock style solutions that can be configured. I've dug though the config file but not deeper. Perhaps there is something obvious I'm missing?

Well I may have just answered my own question: I was only looking at the config file as an option for this. Didn't see there was a UI option!

From the link:
The Rynobus is a self funded project by Jack Lipke. Any proceeds from event rental or donation go straight to vehicle improvements.
May the powers-that-be (aka the Retropie devs) judge over its rightfulness.

for me a project being 'commercial' in nature doesn't necessitate it making a profit. besides, eventually someone sells the bus...
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
