Newest Retropie and gdapt shader
-
When it's the last time you updated and the shader was working ?
The only thing changed could be the RetroArch version, but that hasn't changed since the February this year. -
@mitu The log says
RetroArch 1.7.6 (Git 9750719)
. -
@Clyde Well, yes. If it was working before, I'd like to know which was the previous working version. RetroPie 4.4 launched with the 1.7.1 version, which was updated since then to 1.7.3, then 1.7.5, and finally 1.7.6.
-
@mitu Is there an easy way do downgrade Retroarch? (I'm asking for @Peeteris and out of my own curiosity.)
@Peeteris That's why regular backups of the whole system are useful. Apart from saving your data if something goes wrong, you can roll back the system to a former state, even on another sd card without touching the original. See the Docs for multiple Options how to make a backup. But ultimately, any disk imager should work.
-
@mitu It was working with Retropie 4.4, Retroarch 1.7.5.

You could check-out an older release/commit tag from the RetroPie-Setup repository and build from it. But I'm not sure this is the solution in this case.
I've downloaded the shader from the repository and it's indeed showing a black screen when loading. Will see if updating RetroArch has an impact on this shader.
-
I've tested the shader with 1.7.5 and 1.7.9 on the RPI3, both versions show a black screen if the 2nd shader pass is enabled. So it's not related to the RetroArch update.
EDIT: .. at least not from the 1.7.5 version. I'll try loading it on a different system, just to see how the shader actually works.
-
@mitu Strange. Maybe I was using older version somehow, because I used this shader for Sega CD, Genesis, 32x and sometimes for Master System emulation for the last 2 years.
February of this year I did clean reinstall (with new downloads of Retropie image and so on) of the system and gdapt still worked. -
@mitu Have you tried shader on a different system? =)
-
@Peeteris Yes, I've tried it on a Pi4 system and - while it doesn't crash - there's no noticeable effect on the video (used on Sonic and Ecco).
Unfortunately I can't get the Windows RetroArch to boot any MD game, for some reason the Mednafen core doesn't show anything. One thing I haven't tried is to downgrade the GL(ES) drivers to the version that was present in February on the image.

RetroArch
I tried on Windows with newest stable RetroArch and Genesis Plus GX and shader works perfectly fine.

I tested and gdapt-pass1.glsl is the one which makes screen go black on Retropie, Retroarch 1.7.6.

Hello!
Problem still persists.
Anyone got any luck fixing dgapt shader for newest Retroarch?
