      Retropie 4.4.9
      Pi3B+
      DosBox settings:

      core=simple
      cputype=386
      cycles=4500
      cycleup=10
      cycledown=20

      I've tried everything else under the sun to get better sound effects, but nothing works. Very static, or none at all. I've changed the SB type, port, IRQ, DMA... etc.. etc. Changed CPU cycles, core type, everything.

      Always worked great with DosBox on a PC. Is there something I am missing, or am I stuck using the Sega Genesis version over the PC version?

      Thanks for the help!

        Some more info...

        I do use seperate config files for all of my DosBox games, so I can manipulate each game individually. I set JMF to a 386 and slowed down the cycles as it ran much better this way.

        The Joystick (gamepad) is super fast even at these settings.

        I had sb16 set, but changed it to this.. and several other sb settings...
        sbtype=sbpro2
        sbbase=220
        irq=7
        dma=1
        hdma=5
        sbmixer=true
        oplmode=auto
        oplemu=default
        oplrate=44100

        Anything else you need, let me know. This is a great classic Football game that I hope to get running at it's full settings and sounds.

          I'm not sure if something is needed besides the default settings. I have a stock Dosbox(SDL2) install and all I did was add a simple .conf file with

          [autoexec]
          mount c: /home/pi/roms/pc-data
          c:
          cd jmf
          montana
          exit

          The game is copied in roms/pc-data/jmf.

          These are the settings in-game:

          b4c786b4-0911-47f7-875c-68de4e55915f-image.png

          Music blasts through and everything seems to be ok.

            @mitu how's your sound effects? Does the title say "Hi, this is Joe Montans... " clearly?

            My music is fine, the sound effects are all scratchy and the joystick is wicked fast

              It seems so, it's identical to what appears in the video below

              My music is fine, the sound effects are all scratchy and the joystick is wicked fast

              Didn't get that far.

                @mitu Yup, that's how it should sound.

                Not sure why mine doesn't unless it's just a crap ROM... which could be the case.

                  @mitu I have all my dos ROMs in a folder called dos: with pointer ".sh" files in home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc

                  Works fine in all other games. Here is the 'exe' setup in the jmf.conf file

                  mount c /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/dos
                  C:
                  CD jmf
                  MONTANA.COM
                  EXIT

                    with a different ROM, my joystick is working good now, but the sound effects are still crap.
                    Same rom works fine in a DosBox session on my PC. Go figure.

                    Not sure what is causing this one.

                      @mitu I got it... I updated DosBox and it's working good now. Thanks for your input! I always appreciate how fast you reply to these issues.
