      So I just finished this wooden handheld retro console as a birthday present for a friend of mine. Would love to hear, what you think!

      What's inside:

      • Raspberry Pi 3B+
      • MPI3508 3.5'' HDMI LCD Display
      • 5000 mAh Li-Po Battery + Charger (with battery status indicator)
      • DualShock-like USB gamepad

      I started by designing the overall shape of the console in Blender. Most of the pieces were cut by hand out of plywood and glued together. The front plate is screwed on top of the main part so it fixes the buttons that loosely sit on the circuit board of the gamepad. Big thanks to my brother who let me use his laser cutter to cut the button covers as well as the RetroPie-Logo! The D-Pad and ABXY buttons are made of beech wood, which gives them a solid yet smooth feel and visually separates them from the lighter plywood front plate. The sides and the back of the hand grip were sanded pretty strongly to fit comfortably in ones palms.
      The LCD display suffers from poor viewing angles (let me know if there are better displays for the raspberry pi in that size) but does its job at displaying 60Hz at a sufficient resolution (480x320). The battery lasts around 4 hours for N64 (3D) games and can be charged while playing.
      I had a lot of fun building this and hope my friend will enjoy playing. Also I'd like to do similar projects in the future. Please feel free to ask any questions or give feedback on my build.

            If you have a viewing angle problem, try the Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4". IMHO the best small display for the Pi ever.

            System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.
