Raspberry RetroPie user here! Achievement gifs on a raspberry pi touchscreen!
I’ve been working with a raspberry pi for a year now with RetroPie. I just figured out retroachievements and I recently purchased a 3.5” touchscreen case for it.
I was thinking it would be interesting if I could get a gif to play on the touchscreen when I unlock an achievement. I do not want to play the games on the touch screen.
The original idea was to program in a touch screen shutdown button, and the idea for achievements followed.
Thanks in advance!
@Jghollowelliv shameless self bump. It would be nice to know what I can do with this touch screen case I bought and how it could work with RetroPie!
AFAIR there's no trigger in RetroArch - tied to RetroArchievements - that could be used to execute a program (so that you can show something on the screen).
You can show anything you'd like on it - use it to show the currently running game and maybe displaying a screenshot of the game ?
@mitu thank you so much! Could I get mirrored playback of the game? Might be interesting as I’m playing a game... I’m afraid it might be a usage of resources that’ll choke the Pi.
It depends on how is it connected to the Pi - if it's HDMI, you can get an HDMI splitter and connect both your TV and the screen at once.
