Trackball (for Mame) working, but soooo slow ... (Kensington Orbit Optical)
-
Hi,
I will add a trackball on my Arcade Station to play some games more realistic, like Centipede and Missile-Command.Actuall I have a Sony Playstation (USB, cable) connected.
In other thread I read that this (cheap and little) trackball should work with retropie:
Kensington Orbit Optical TrackballI connect the Trackball (using USB), and is "working" without any config change !
But it's slow, i.e. to move my player from left to right inside the game "Centipede" (using Mame-Libreto), I need 5 seconds ... (directions, reaction, fire-button is fine; in principle it seems correct)
If I roll little faster (and not really fast), will not recognized.
(under windows also fast moves are accepted, so no hardware issue from trackball)Any ideas, is my Rasperry (2) to slow?
Have I to make some additionally joystick settings ?Update:
I test Centipede with a cheap USB mouse, this work better (i.e., takes 1.5s to move from left to right inside Centipede)Regards,

You mention Mame-Libretro. What core are you actually using?
Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity and speed controls for analog controls in Mame? Depending on the core used, you might be able to use TAB to get to the Analog Controls option.

Where can i find this, is this inside the Quick menu inside a game ? sorry .... and where can I find the "core" I use ?

I guess this is in MAME's own input menu, accessed by pressing
TAB
.sorry .... and where can I find the "core" I use ?
It's displayed on the launch menu when you start the game, or at the bottom of the menu in RetroArch's RGUI.

Hi,
I have Mame 1.76,
keyboard is working, but inside the Mame Menu (this is the GUI in old, big letters style, correct?), nothing happens when pressing TAB.I found under Input => Analog Stick Deadzone, but reducing value change nothing.
But where can I find a setting to adjust the analog controls exactly?
Thanks! -
Update:
I tested Centipede now with the "Mame 4all" emulator (never used before), there TAB-key is working inside a game and I have an option there to change the sensitivity from my analog gamepad (on the PS 3 controller)
(the connected Trackball is in Mame4all not working :-( , maybe need extra configuration/input-settings ...)But how can I get the TAB key also working (again) in the Mame-Libreto emulator ? TAB also should work there, or?
Seems the whole keyboard is not working inside Retropie GUI (but it's working if I need to add i.e a number in the Retropie-Setup)
Keyborad- Arrow Keys, TAB, return, ESC: No reaction in the Retropie-Menu, only the Joystick and phy.Buttons work there. -

Press the L+R triggers and this should toggle the MAME menu.

OK, I reset the default.cfg in mame2003 -folder, now the TAB is working and I can change the
I change the sensitivity in the menu,
seems for Centipede it's not going "faster",
because in Marble Madness or Missile Command the control is running faster after the changes !Thx!
