      Hi All,
New to the forums and have been searching for an answer to this and can't seem to find one. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction, this has been driving me nuts trying to figure out. I've been trying to get custom collections to work on a build I started from a fresh/scratch RetroPie image and can't get the roms to display in ES after adding the custom cfg file into the "collections" folder. Here's what I've done so far.

      • In the "roms" directory I've created and placed my roms into individually labeled folders to help track them for each collection etc. for example cps1.
      • I created and added a game in ES to the custom cps1 collection to generate a new cfg file for cps1.
      • I edited this file through notepad ++ and made sure I followed another posts guide to ensure the formatting was done correctly. Placed that file into the "collections" directory restarted the system completely. The collection still shows up but with no games showing.
      • double checked my work and tried adding a different game/rom from a already working directory (720 Degrees from my NES rom folder) to the list and that game loaded in to the collection just fine.
      • I looked over my "gamelist" files to see if that could have been a problem but that looks fine as well.

Am I missing something here? Will the individual rom folders/directories just not work this way? I notice that these roms don't display in my "all games" list either. Looking at an older Image from another build I have the file/folder directories looked to be setup in the same way I'm attempting, but there was no collection cfg. files so there must be some other added script/code that I'm missing to get this to work the way I'm trying to? Would appreciate the help and I apologize for the lengthy post.

If your collection ROMs are not part of an existing system, they won't show up. So if you created a roms/cps1 folder and put the ROMs there, then created a collection with the filenames of those ROMs, that won't work.
EmulationStation needs to know that roms/cps1 is a system, you probably had - in your previous build - cps configured as such.

If that's not your exact setup, then you should post the configuration files for EmulationStation's system list and the custom collection you've created. And it would be nice if you added the info asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, just to know what version of EmulationStation/RetroPie we're talking here.

@mitu Thank you for your reply and I apologize for missing the other information. As soon as you mentioned the es_systems.cfg file was the moment I realized "yup, that's not there". All is good with this build now. Arg I knew it was going to be something silly.
