      Good day All,
After an update of Retropie Setup Script (to ver. 4.5.7) , I have an issue with Retroarch (after update from 1.7.6 to 1.8.2) I can not load any emulator. Log says : "No sg devices found and sg kernel module is not loaded after update".
After setup script update, I have updated core packages (from binary). Tried to reinstall from both binary or source, and nothing helps.
I have gone back to my backup, did the same thing after couple of days, and result is exactly the same.
Can not launch RA at all.
Can you please recommend, where I can start to fix. I can work on my Backed up version (with RA 1.7.6) but obviously I would like to have a chance to update packages to latest version.
Any suport on where to start digging would be much appreciated.

RetroPie does not included version 1.8.2, did you manually modify the installation script to request that version ?

Log says : "No sg devices found and sg kernel module is not loaded after update".

That's harmless and it's just a warning that shouldn't affect RetroArch's ability to load cores.

Please add more info about your system, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

To get a detailed log file, use the Runcommand launch menu and choose to launch to debug logging, then upload the /dev/shm/runcommand.log to pastebin.com so we can take a look.

          Dear Mitu
Thank you very much for your support.
Below please kindly find additional information.

          1. You are right, I installed manually 1.8.2 version of RA, and that was the version I had updated during first instance of the issue.
After I restored system from my backup, I have followed standard update from binary (so it is 1.7.9 now, (updated from 1.7.6))

          • Pi Version - 3B+
          • Power Supply used: dedicated 2.5A
          • RetroPie Version Used: 4.5.7
          • Built From: SD Retropie image used since 2018, being continously updated and backed up
          • USB Devices connected: 2x usb zero delay controllers for arcade joysticks

Below is the pastebin link to log.

You installation seems to load the sdl video context driver, but RetroPie usually configures the gl driver as default. Can you also post your retroarch.cfg from /opt/retropie/configs/all/ ? Just to check there if my assumption is true.

              Sure thing,

              Below I have pasted retroarch.cfg from /opt/retropie/configs/all/

That looks ok, but I see you've used the 'Save configuration' from the RGUI and so you might have a similar config in /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg. Check the 2nd file and make sure you have video_driver=gl set in there.

Yes :), that is the reason. I have changed video driver to gl, also under /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/all location, and that solved the issue. Thank you very much for support, BTW I learned a bit more around the configuration thanks to that .
