Fuse keyboard issues. Have set up P3 as Sinclair Keyboard

HI all, Running Retropie 4.5 on 3+.
lr-fuse runs and loads games fine and essentially works with both keyboard and/or game pad. I have set controls in quick menu as P1 as Sinclair Joystick and P3 as Sinclair Keyboard. But...... some of the buttons are not recognised as they seem to be mapped to game pad buttons some how. I can't use Q, O or P and when I press S at any time Fuse quits and returns me to Emulation station.
I have tried deleting all the EmulationStation control maps (from previous gamepads) which forced me to set up control again but problem still exists. Anyway, does anyone have any ideas that may help?
