Dreamcast games compression
-
Hi all,
I need help about dreamcast games. I have a large collection stored on my NAS and I wolud try that games on my new Pi4. The problem is that games are too large. I found a tool to convert gdi in chd to save some disk space but my problem is that all my images are cdi format.
Is there a way to revert cdi in gdi?
Thanks for help. -
@davidgrohl I'm not sure but I recommend you to get the games again in GDI format. They are the full dumps of a dreamcast game.
CDI images are limited to the size of a cdr (~700MB) and games that did not fit had music ripped out and/or cutscenes re-encoded to a much lower quality. Take a look at the CDI version of Grandia 2. It had its cutscenes downsampled and split onto two discs. Both discs have the complete game minus half the cutscenes so if you went to far, the game would crash without starting on the 2nd disc. The CDI rips are inferior and should be deleted anyways.
