Hi there, very stuck and in need of some help! Been stuck for months now

I'm on the latest version of Emulationstation and Retropie. I found the Optional Package for Aimtrak light gun, gunconf and installed without a problem. I go to Options select newly installed "Gunconf" and it shows my gun detected. But When I press the trigger button nothing happens, I ve tried a bunch of different things (though I am very much a newb in this area) installing all different mame packages to try and get it to work. I'm out of ideas :(

RetroPie doesn't include this package, you're probably using a 3rd party image which added this script - see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
You can track the origin of the package and ask the author for assistance or the image author which included the script.

Thanks! the only reason why I ended up using it was because I tried all other options to get it to work :( I tried to reach out to the author but aside from his github profile there is no other info on him. I am fine with removing this though if only I could get it to work any other way?

@mitu Gunconf is a semi-official program to calibrate AimTrak lightguns under Linux. Ultimarc's product page links to it as "third-party support". I installed it on my official Retropie image, maybe @sdabbs did so likewise.

@sdabbs I have two AimTrak guns for over a year now and, as far as I remember, they worked out of the box with Retropie. I had to calibrate them with Gunconf, though.

Did you follow Spinners, Trackballs, Lightguns, Mice in Retropie's Documentation? See "Testing Mouse Inputs in Linux" and "Configuring RetroArch emulators for mouse-like device use" on how to test the guns on the operating system's level. If everything there is okay (including the trigger), then we could move on to look at your problems in Gunconf.

But please excuse any fault in my memory after over a year. :) In he next few days, I could check the setup of my guns at home for more (exact) details.

@clyde I tried to use his instructions on getting it installed as it was listed on ultimarc's website as a third party supporter. I now results in a synthax error. Ironically, the next day, the third party supported was different when I looked at Ultimarc's website again. Frustrating as I was hoping to have my aimtrak up and running by now. Just curious if anyone has recently been succesfull in getting this game gun to work correctly. I am using a Raspberry Pi 3 B+.

@retropieer737 Alas, I didn't use my Aimtraks for over a year. Maybe you should open your own support thread and describe in detail what you did, and quote any error messages explicitly.
