      Hello,

I noticed my aspect ratio was set to "custom" after updating Retropie. I am using GX for Megadrive and I have these shots to show you:

      20200126_101330.jpg

It causes a gap near my overlay and I am trying to get it to save as "core" again but I haven't found the solution.

Update, so NES has "Core" aspect ratio set which I never recalled ever manually setting. Neo-Geo and Megadrive both have "Custom" set for aspect ratio. I tried to switch them back to core and "Save Configuration" but that does not work. Is this something I should "Save Core Overrides" to?

I think I figured it out. I saved these settings as core settings and I think all is well again for Megadrive/NeoGeo etc.

Thanks for posting this, I had a similar issue. I'd love to pay it forward in case anyone observed similar.

On upgrade, everything seemed to work the same except the aspect ratio of MAME (both MAME 2003 .078 and MAME 2003 Plus) and the graphics ran into the overlays I have installed.

I had to go into the retroarch settings under MAME and update the aspect ratio to core override, then save it, that wrote files:

            .\all\retroarch\config\MAME 2003 (0.78)\MAME 2003 (0.78).cfg
            .\all\retroarch\config\MAME 2003-Plus\MAME 2003-Plus.cfg

These files seem to have aspect_ratio_index = "22" rather than the retroarch default of 21, although that doesn't appear to have changed on upgrade so I'm at a loss exactly why the change.

Not positive what changed, but this definitely seems related to the recent retroarch version upgrade (https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/2941) perhaps around the rgui_aspect_ratio_lock setting, but I couldn't really confirm that. It's almost as if the previous version of retroarch interpreted the aspect ratio setting differently for MAME.

In any case, working fine now.

Afair RetroArch added a new aspect ratio, which caused some IDs to change due to the ordering. So you would need to edit existing configs or reconfigure.
