Hello, apologies if this question has already been asked but I can't find the answer anywhere. I have a retrorangepi with two USB controller slots. I'm playing TMNT with MAME. How do I set one of the controllers (say controller #2) to control player #3 so that I can play as Donatello, or set it to control player #4 so I can play as Raphael?

@skrilmps you can use the 2 player versions of the roms that allowes you to select who you can play as. There are 2 player versions of all konami's beat em ups.

@skrilmps most of the times, they are child roms that require the main 4 player version, but you just select the 2 player version. You can merge the roms into one rom if you want to go though that hassle, but it'll leave only one copy of the game on your games list. But leave both for times you want to have a 4 player game.

              I have a ROM for tmnt2po. It's a zip that contains tmnt21.j15, tmnt22.k15, tmnt1234.k17, and tmnt123.j17

Is that the right one? Why are there four?

@skrilmps The four files are the actual dump of the real rom chips. Arcade games have many rom chips. The zip files just hold it all them together as one file. Those 4 files contain the differences between the original game and the 2 player version. Thats why you also need the original rom.

What we used to do for doing this in 1 player, is set joystick up as up for P1, P2, P3 and P4, button 1 as button 1 for P1, P2, P3, P4 etc etc, and then start the game by pressing the appropriate coin button to select the character. This only work when playing with 1 player though. Use the 2P rom for what you need.

@FairDinkum Interesting. So if I understand correctly you're basically controlling all 4 characters with one controller which works fine if you only have one player...? But when you put in a coin, doesn't it also put in a coin for all 4 characters?
