(Idea) Bezel / Overlays for Non Libretro Emulators

So I was updating some emulators and lr-dolphin must of took a shit somewhere
because it's no longer working on my x86 retropie build.It made me think that I still have the stand alone installed but lost my nice bezel.
I also have Daphne Singe running through wine-dev into retropie and would love to have an bezel around that as well..
Maybe the overlay option could be implemented into retropie or es-dev?
Just like an png overlap at the emulator startup and maybe have the toggle option in the ui or runcommand? -
If the emulator itself doesn't implement bezels, then there's not much that can be done to externally overlay an image, since most emulators need exclusive/fullscreen access to the video output.
