      Hi everyone,

Pi Model or other hardware: 3B+
Power Supply used: over USB 5V 1A
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.5.14
      Built From: retropie-4.5.1-rpi2_rpi3.img
USB Devices connected: 4x INNEXT SNES Joypad
Controller used: 4x INNEXT SNES Joypad
      Emulator: all of them

      How to replicate the problem:

In Retropie it's possible to use all four controllers and they also show up as four Gamepads at the input configuration window. When I start a game it mostly detects only two controllers of those four. But the only game where I am able to use all four controllers is Bomberman on Turbografix.
So my main question is, I don't find any good reference how I can manually configure the gamepads in the retroarch.cfg file. Or could that even help to set them up manually or what could be the problem for this? Or if somebody experienced this problem already?

      Thanks in advance!

@albflo some systems only had two controller ports and required a "multi-tap" device to add additional controllers. In the retroarch menu in the controller section I believe you want to change player 2's controller type to multi-tap to enable the other controllers.

@quicksilver That is probably the solution, didn't even think about that!! I will give it a try and post if it was successful! Is it overall possible to have multiple controller profiles? Probably over the controller settings of each console, where I also can load a specific configuration file or?
Thanks very much for the hint!!

@albflo you can save game specific controller overrides in the retroarch menu, you should see an option for that.

I have recently started using 4-player games on the SNES emulator. I can tell you that I had to install and use lr-snes to get it working right. When I would try to use lr-snes9x2010 the player 2 controller would simultaneously move players 2 - 4 at the same time.

As quicksilver said, the best way to handle it is to save overrides for the specific games. I also saved the alternate emulator as the default for those games only. I have successfully gotten 4P to work on Super Bomberman 1 and 2, NBA Jam and NBA Jam TE for the SNES.
