I have a new RPi4 (OKdo starter kit) running 4.5.14. Installed RetroPie, connected my 8bitdo N30 Pro controller by USB and started up. Everything seemed to be going fine until the welcome screen appears. It says my controller is connected, but nothing happens when I try to hold a button. I also get the same issue when I tried using my PS3 controller, it’s discovered, but RetroPie doesn’t react when holding down a button.
      Any ideas?

@Nimrad Not sure about the PS3 when wired but with the 8BitDo controllers I believe the startup mode matters even with USB.

Try turning the controller off and holding START+A together until it turns on. It may be one of the other buttons that you need to use, as I have to use START + X to power it on when I use mine in Blutooth mode. These controllers are picky about how they register in each mode.

        Hopefully that helps a little.

It may be a power issue - are you using a proper power source ? Can you try and test your controller via jstest to see if the buttons/d-pad/joysticks are registering ?
