High Score not showing properly

I recently setup a pre-made image on my Pi3
RE: 32gb 8bit and 16bit Compudaze Pi 3 Image
Everything is great on it except a few games show the high score as odd characters (for a lack of a better way to explain it!). For example mspacman.zip has this problem, while donkey kong is fine.
Any guidance to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

We don't support 3rd party image, as explained in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Install the RetroPie image from https://retropie.org.uk/download and update the emulators, then try again and see if you can reproduce the error.
