1st Acade build

I want to give a big thank you to everyone contributing to to retro pie forums. I would not have been able to make this without it. My son wanted a project we could do over winter together and we decided on a bartop arcade. He is a huge Nintendo fan, and wanted something a little different. So we went with a Famicom theme. We wanted to also up the DIY aesthetic so designed the cab yourself and used all recycled materials. Except the paint. Even the wood was recycled from an old melamine building we ripped out of a bedroom. Lots of learning in this, build and many changes I would like to make but we had a blast making it.

@vettamann This looks great. I’m curious, now, what you would have changed? What did you learn? Any advice? What tools did you use/have available?

@TechNovice the biggest thing I would have changed is I would not have used melamine wood, however, then it would not have been a "recycled" project. The angled edges of the melamine cuts like of SOB. Also, Paint adherence has been problematic. I would have also figured out a better method of attached the bezel/plexi where it could be removed without removing the entire monitor for cleaning. Third, the nintendo logo on the marquee is a bit too big, so I had to use double stick tape to secure the marquee instead of a bezel mount. That I can fix, I just need to make a new graphic.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
