      I haven’t seen anyone else have this issue so I’m starting a new thread. Whenever I try using my Pi 3 on a different TV it boots up like normal and doesn’t display any errors, but once it’s done booting up the screen is black. The options at the bottom like launch screen saver, menu etc are still there but you can’t select anything.

      The TVs I’m trying to use have all been at least 8” bigger than the 32” I use. This happened a couple years ago but I don’t remember messing with screen resolution or ratio settings. Only thing I did different was updating to 4.3.8

        Can you post the contents of /boot/config.txt?

          @quicksilver sorry I’m real new to all this, I know how to get to config.txt are you referring to the only code I’m seeing once I’m there that I’ve put in previously? Or do I need to do more once I’m in config.txt

            @MDtar7 just open that file up and then copy/paste the complete contents here.

              @quicksilver the only line I’m seeing in config.txt is

              dtparam=audio=on

                  Force the TV resolution through raspi-config or by editing directly the /boot/config.txt.

                    After doing a lot more reading I realized it’s only happening for Emulation Station. There is no display once it’s done booting up and all I can press is A and it will open whatever is selected although I can’t see what it is. I was able to launch a game and it immediately went to its config file where I was able to see everything and operate the controller perfectly but once you go back to ES it either goes white or glitches out

                      I use retropie 4.3.8 on a 32” HDMI tv and it works great, when I switch over to my 55” HDMI it boots up like normal and fits the screen size automatically but when emulation station starts it’s not functional. The menu buttons on the bottom are visible but the rest of the screen is black, I can select things but can’t see what I’m selecting but when I launch a rom it doesn’t run correctly and is usually all glitchy.

                      And when I launched a rom it opened its config file by itself, the thing is the config file screen looked perfectly normal and I could navigate it normally. Any ideas would be very much appreciated I’ve been struggling for weeks!

                              @MDtar7 you are running an old version of RetroPie. can you try updating the setup-script and then update emulation station?

                                @quicksilver so I went to update setup script and it wasn’t successful and has a message saying Raspian/ Debian Jessie and versions of Ubuntu below 16.04 are no longer supported and says to install retropie 4.4 from a fresh image... I’m not sure what all that entails but is that really my only option?

                                  @MDtar7 you're using such an old image it's really hard to troubleshoot. So while there may be a fix, it's anybody's guess what it might be. My recommendation is get another SD card, they're pretty cheap, and setup a current image on it. That way you still have your old one to play with for now until you get things moved over to the new one.

                                    @quicksilver I ended up installing a fresh image and it worked thanks for the replies or I’d still be stuck
