Custom Collections in Pixel theme. How do you apply the theme?

I've created a "custom-collections" folder with art and theme.xml and added it to the Pixel folder in etc/emulationstation.... but if I select a custom collection (from the es menu) it doesn't apply the theme to it as you can see below. Anyone know how? I had thought adding it as a new system would have fixed it but I just end up with 2 Collections systems in the carousel then, so that's not the solution.
Functionality wise it picks up the collection and I can select it and run the roms from it, I just can't seem to figure out how to get it to apply the theme to it. Pixel was taken from ES Themes 3 days ago so it should be as up to date as it can get.
