GBA Can See Save Game But Won't Load It
Essentially as the title says really. Playing Pokemon FireRed, and I saved the game using the in-game saving tool, and exited using Start and Select. Now when I load it up, it can see my save game, I click it to load, and it refreshes back to the main menu.
Now I know there are any number of reasons why this could be occurring but does anyone know where they'd start? I'm a bit of a newbie, I've just started with SSH and SFTP and the like but I'm trying my best!
This is on a fresh installation of RetroPie a few days ago on a 3 Model B+. No BIOS added or anything like that, not sure if that's a necessity?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, including what emulator are you using.
So sorry, I'm using mGBA, built from the pre-made version on the RetroPie forum.

@elephantstone you just gave 10% of the information requested, please follow the link Mitu gave you 😉
Haha fair enough apologies, I assumed the other parts weren't relevant for this type of query, sorry guys.
Pi Model: 3 B+
Power supply: NorthPada / ASUS Board Tinker Board S Power Supply 5V 3A with switch
RetroPie Version Used: 4.5.1
Built From: Pre-made SD image on RetroPie website
USB devices connected: USB stick with my ROMs, bluetooth dongle for wireless keyboard (sometimes), sometimes PS4 controller
Controller used: PS4 controller via bluetooth and/or wired
Error messages received: None
I left out some fields intentionally as I don't receive error messages or read logs, etc, not 100% sure how to interpret them!
Sorry for leaving out the information initially!
I tried to reproduce the issue, but I don't seem to be able to. Using the same emulator (
lr-mgba), with or without the BIOS, the save file is loaded correctly.
Can you check if you have enough space available on your USB ? The save file (in-game saves) is stored next to the ROM, it's named
<ROMNAME>.srm, if you don't see one, then the emulator cannot save the file.
How are you mounting the USB stick to the system ? Did you follow the docs or did you do it manually ?
