      Hi @ all,

I just found out that retroarch does ignore all the settings I input. I tried screen rotation, saved it and then reloaded the game to find out it was all default again. extremely annoying. I even read this but without any changes:

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/208/solved-what-retroarch-cfg-should-be-writable

how come that this basic function isn't fixed in the latest release when the bug is already known?

      best wishes!

It is working as intended as far as I am aware.

This video should help explain how to save the settings (I'm assuming you are talking about RGUI):

        and this thread:

thanks for the video. so there is not simple way to alter the settings and save them? I have to edit around and plug in my keyboard or get it do DiffCheck and manually edit the .cfg files on desktop PC..... very tedious.

why not just make retroarch load the newest changed config by default?

I just don't want to do the changes in every single core every time. Just want retroarch to remember what I changed. that is what saving configs was meant to be, I guess.

@naddel81 Yes, the simple way of doing it is to use the configuration editor:
            https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor

Please see the Wiki for lots more info on RetroArch in RetroPie

thanks for your reply. Am I correct that using the configuration editor makes me write down the ingame X and Y changes for screen resolution for every core and the manually input them to the configuration editor?

what if I want to try new filters? same way?

if I got that right, it is the most annoying thing to do and makes me want to sell my retropie and use the Wii again for emulation.

edit: guess I am not the only one that finds this troubling:

              http://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4773

I can't believe that this basic function doesn't work after all those years of retroarch.

No thats not right. Please read the Wiki to see how to make the changes. Or just give it a go. You'll see its easy.
But if you are happier with the Wii, please try that instead.

just used per core settings ON now and load auto settings to OFF. seems to work now. thanks for your help. but wii emulation is still quite a lot easier.
now I set the aspect ratios to custom and filled the 4:3 screen images correctly. looks fine.

I use a Raspberry Pi 3 and a Wii for emulation and both have their strengths and weaknesses. The Wii is considerably easier and has light gun support for just about any emulated system. However, the Wii homebrew scene has slowed to a crawl, if not a complete stop. As soon as RetroPie added Daphne support, I formed the personal opinion that the only viable future for a DIY retro console was going to be in setups like RetroPie. It might require a lot more configuration, but the potential is almost unlimited. In a way, it's a hobby unto itself or a game room in a box that can always be improved upon. If that notion is undesirable, the alternatives such as the Wii, RecalBox or Lakka might indeed be more fitting.
