New Pi 3 B+ with 2.5A power supply,
retropie 4.5.19, installed a couple of days ago as apt-get
I've run out of things to triple check are up to date.

The cheapo USB game pads work fine in RetroPie, but they don't trigger game exit on select/start. the N30Pro 2 works when connected via USB, but also doesn't seem to want to recognize certain buttons. Nothing else seems to connect in RetroPie, no keyboard, mouse, etc.

      In NOOBS:
-8BitDo N30pro2 connects via bluetooth, with firmware 6.01 or 6.21. seems to work fine.
-lenovo usb dongle wireless mouse works great, cheapo USB wired mouse works as expected.
-USB wired keyboard works fine, with LED illumination off or on. Tried a couple of cheapo BT keebs, a nice BT keeb, and a cheapo membrane keeb, they all work just fine.
      -no USB hubs.

None of those devices do anything to control RetroPie, no F4 to exit, mouse input, etc. But, in RetroPie setup, the N30Pro2's show up as registered bluetooth devices, even though they don't connect to Emulation Station/RetroPie so I'm optimistic that there's a simple "turn on the input thingys" setting that is poorly documented or beyond my google fu, or I just plain ignored as a doofus. What am I missing?
