I am trying to scrape my streetfighter games and Skyscraper is giving the wrong ones in some cases.

eg. Street Fighter 2 Champions edition when it should be Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting
      and
Street Fighter Alpha when it should be Street Fighter Zero

      how can I resolve this??
Would be happy to find the games and individually download then rename and put in the correct folders

I could just use my own pics but I am really impressed with what Skyscraper is doing with the pics by putting the boxart in front

I have this problem with the arcade version of Robocop which scrapes as Robocop 2.

        Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)
        ES-DE on a GMKtec K6 (Windows 11, 32GB RAM)

I am so crazy that i indeed searched for own pictures/artwork for all my games, took years of course :D
I also used the inbuilt scraper in advance to get the metadata and the picture-path, but was never satisfied with the results of the artworks scrapers gave me.

So if you like the pictures of scyscraper with the box in the front etc.: it is also possible to search just for these pics (searchengine -> [Name of the game] + scyscraper).
I prefer those from "Hyperspin" :D
But you will be surprised what beautiful pictures do exist for games / cases / artwork.
Even if you search for "products" you will find fantastic pictures made by eBay-sellers who seem to be hobby-photographs ;)
Professional Background, perfect lightning, great point of view - very impressive and makes your image/setup even more individual.

@sirhenrythe5th Hi, could you explain how you get the picture with the boxart in the front etc? I also have issues with a few games being wrong and/or blank screenshots.

@Jezza This is not a Skyscraper issue, it's how the data is coming from the scraping site (ScreenScraper). For instance

                  • sf2t is Street Fighter II' - Hyper Fighting, however on ScreenScraper, the sf2t ROM is associated with Street Fighter 2' - Champion Edition .
                  • ssf2xj is Super Street Fighter II X: Grand Master Challenge, but the parent game is Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and the ROM is associated with it on the source site. In this case it might yield the correct name if you scraped with JP as region.

TL;DR - since Skyscraper supports ArcadeDB as a source, which works fine for detecting such titles, do a scrape for these titles from ArcadeDB instead of ScreenScraper.

Using AcradeDB as a source worked THANKS @mitu

well all but sf2t, couldn't work out how to set region to try to get that one. looks like I need to modify /home/USER/.skyscraper/config.ini:

havn't worked out how to do that yet

ALSO apologies for sounding like I was blaming Skyscraper for the problem. I am so thankful for everything people have made here. Started on the arcade machine path without even knowing about retropie and it has gone from "this will be preety cool" to the most amazing thing and I love just working on it (havn't even really played games much) and enjoyed every minute THANKS GUYS

I did a scrape last night for another game and Robocop seems to have fixed itself.

                        @jthomas5150

                        This should cover it mate
The recent Skyscraper does it automatically WHICH IS AMAZING

but if you really want to know how to do it - i found this

Some of the ETA Prime (Whilst so helpful) don't have recent updates, so hit me up with any issues, I am only 6 months from a NOOB but the way things go here your questions will be answered
